Position Summary
Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels, Cemeteries, and Cremation Services has served Twin Cities families for more than 165 years. We are seeking a personable, compassionate Licensed Funeral Director to join our team and carry forward our promise: "In times of grief, we're family."
This is primarily an arrangements and services position. Our Funeral Directors guide families through the funeral-planning process and coordinate meaningful, personalized services with compassion, professionalism, and careful attention to detail.
With multiple chapels throughout the Minneapolis metropolitan area, Funeral Directors are assigned to cases across locations as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
- Meet with families to plan, coordinate, and oversee funeral arrangements tailored to their wishes
- Provide thoughtful guidance regarding burial and cremation options while respecting each family's emotional, cultural, and religious needs
- Direct funeral and memorial services and ensure all details are carried out professionally
- Collaborate with the Schedule Desk, Care Center, cemeteries, Receptionists, Drivers, and other internal teams to provide seamless service
- Prepare and oversee documentation and permits related to death certificates, transportation, burial, and cremation
- Maintain compliance with Minnesota and federal regulations, professional standards, and company policies
- Participate in a balanced evening on-call rotation
- Provide direction to Receptionists and Drivers during visitations and services
- Assist with transfers, occasional decedent preparation, and other professional responsibilities as needed
Required Qualifications
- Current Minnesota Funeral Director license
- Experience planning, coordinating, and directing funeral services
- Comprehensive knowledge of funeral service practices and applicable Minnesota laws and regulations
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Thoroughness, sound judgment, and close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with confidence and initiative
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse, rotating team
- Proficiency with computer systems and related technology
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 150 pounds using appropriate transport gurneys and equipment
- Ability to perform the physical duties associated with transfers, visitations, and funeral services
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary of $65,000–$95,000, based on experiencef
