Cemetery Services

Turning to the rich history of the rural cemeteries of the 19th century, the architects of Washburn-McReavy preserved the historic elements of a time when cemeteries became not only places of mourning but also places for those wanting to experience the peacefulness and serenity of a beautiful park.

A Consistent Place of Healing

A Consistent Place of Healing

In our modern society, people aren't given enough time to grieve their losses. The pressures of work, even the simple emotional need to ‘be busy,’ often bring the bereaved back into the ‘real’ world far too soon.

Also many families are choosing to scatter the cremated remains of their loved one in a favorite place, the ocean, or even in the skies above. While that may seem fitting at the time, it means that you do not have a consistent place to connect with the memories of the person you loved so dearly.

Having such permanent place - in a cemetery, mausoleum, or cremation garden - that can be visited regularly by family and friends is an essential part of the time following a death. It becomes a focal point of memorialization, and gives everyone a special place to go to remember your loved one, or to commemorate important occasions. It can help to make a birthday or anniversary less painful.

A permanent place to reflect on your loved one becomes a way of connecting to a family's past. Visiting the resting place of grandparents or great-grandparents may provide children with an anchor to their personal history. It is a connection to the past, to love shared. It truly honors the relationship you still have – and will always have – with that person.

Ground Burial

Ground Burial

Traditionally, in-ground burial has been the choice of many families. We provide families with many in-ground burial options, including large family estate lots, multiple space lots, and single grave spaces. Depending on the needs of the family, there are many areas throughout our cemeteries to choose.
Cremation Options

Cremation Options

Washburn-McReavy maintains a variety of facilities for the interment of cremated remains, giving you a full selection of urns, niches, mausoleums and urn gardens. For those families who desire it, we’re also able to combine in-ground burial for both casketed and cremated remains.

Cremation niches are available in our mausoleum and the outdoor cremation garden. These small in-ground lots accommodate two urns and are memorialized with flush bronze memorials. Landscaped with trees, a flowing water feature, and beautiful flower beds, our cremation garden provides families with a uniquely tranquil setting.

We also provide bench, tree and statue memorial interment of cremated remains.

Mausoleums

Mausoleums

Mausoleums allow for above ground entombment in community buildings.   At one time the advantages of mausoleum entombment were available only to royalty, the famed, or the very wealthy. Well-known mausoleums include the Taj Mahal, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Egyptian Pyramids. Mausoleum property is now affordable to most everyone.

The existing mausoleums at Washburn-McReavy are community mausoleums, some with crypt space for single caskets and cremation niches, which can hold one to six cremations. Families may opt to have a glass front on the niche, which allows them to place a photo or personal memento in the niche. This memento may be placed at the time of service or later at the convenience of the family.
