Wendy Jean Schroeder

The world became a little bit darker on March 11, 2024, at 4:45 AM, when Wendy Schroeder, a loving mother, passed away. Wendy Schroeder was born on October 4th, 1961, to Bonnie and David Clunis. Her childhood was filled with adventures like biking with no hands, broomball, softball, and spending time with her brothers Scott and Gary. She attended Anoka High School where she competed in beauty pageants, continued playing sports, and made cherished life-long friends. Following her high school graduation, Wendy pursued her education at the University of Minnesota, earning a degree in Marketing. Her days were spent enjoying the company of friends at Dinky Town. In 1981, while sunbathing by the pool, Wendy was approached by a man who would later become her husband, Bryon. After graduating, Wendy embarked on a successful career in marketing at Homestyles Publishing, where her intellect, professionalism, and work ethic propelled her to success. Her 20s were marked by professional growth and memorable gatherings with friends, including riotous girls' weekends and legendary dinner parties. In March of 1989, Wendy and Bryon welcomed their first daughter, Alyse, followed by their second daughter, Lauryn, in April of 1994. Their family life was filled with joy, including the addition of a puppy one Christmas. In 1995, Wendy and her family made the bold decision to leave the corporate world behind and move to Hayward, Wisconsin. There, they established Whiplash Lake Resort and several other successful businesses. Wendy's marketing prowess and entrepreneurial spirit flourished as she became a pillar of the community, actively involved in the school district and sports. As her daughters grew up and ventured off to university, Wendy transitioned back to Minnesota in 2012, where she reconnected with old friends and cared for her parents. Despite facing health challenges in 2019, Wendy remained optimistic and resilient. She exemplified selflessness, grace, and unconditional love as a devoted mother, leaving behind a legacy of love and courage that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit will forever guide us through the darkest times, and her legacy of love will live on in our hearts. Wendy is survived by her two daughters, Alyse Schroeder and Lauryn Ginouves; her brothers, Scott and Gary Clunis; and a beautiful extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie and Dave Clunis; and her husband, Bryon Schroeder. Funeral services were held on March 15, 2024 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
