Thomas Eugene Holmquist

Thomas Eugene Holmquist, age 87, of Minneapolis, MN peacefully made his transition from this life into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. He was a devoted servant of the Lord, whose unwavering faith was a guiding light to all who knew him. Tom was born in 1938 and grew up in NE Minneapolis, surrounded by the love of a large, close-knit family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Holmquist, his parents, Wesley and Monnie Holmquist; his brothers and sisters, Norma (Bill) Hart, Margery (Bob) Fehling, Dorothy (Bud) Aadland, Adele (Louis) Petsolt, Jerry (Sandy) Holmquist, Bill (Muriel) Holmquist, Bob Holmquist, Dick (June) Holmquist, Annette (Duane) Anderson and his great-grandson Blake Holmquist. He is survived by his sons Douglas (Eliete) Holmquist, Daniel Holmquist, Luke Holmquist, Matthew Holmquist; daughters, Lynda (Mike) Dupre, Miriam (Bryan) Lietz, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. While working at Clark's gas station, Tom met a beautiful brunette who would forever change his life. Tom & Bev's love story began that day, and together they built a wonderful life together, raising six children in Coon Rapids, MN. Tom worked in real estate for many years and was an amazing carpenter, just like Jesus! He will be remembered as a man of strong faith, steady character, and a fierce competitor. He loved spending time outdoors on the golf course, enjoyed a good game of cribbage, and never passed up a nerf gun battle with his grandkids. Perhaps his favorite tradition was the annual trip to the bowling alley - his chance to remind everyone that he was still the reigning champ! If the measure of a man's life is the mark he leaves on others, then Tom was an extraordinary success. He lived a life rooted in truth, grace, and the promises of God. Through every season, Tom stood firm in faith, never shaken by the storms of life. He was the embodiment of quiet strength, compassion, and deep trust in the Lord's plan. Even in his struggles, he knew he was fully accepted - 100% perfect - in the eyes of God, not because of anything he had done, but because of what Jesus had done for him. Ephesians 2: 8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." A celebration of life and faith will be held at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel on Monday, June 16th at 2 PM (2610 19th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418). A light reception will follow the service.
