Theresa (Terri) R Militzer

Theresa (Terri) R Militzer, Age 81, entered the loving arms of Jesus when she died on Thursday, April 7th, 2016. She was lovingly cared for by the staff and care providers of Presbyterian Homes of West Bloomington, MN. The Militzer family has appreciated the loving and respectful manner in which the entire care team, including Optage Hospice, honored Terri in her final weeks of life on planet earth. Theresa Rose Timian was born on October 24, 1934 in Frazee, MN. She was adopted by the Reverend Julius and Ida Timian. For her first 7 years she lived with her parents in Flaxton, North Dakota. Following Rev. Timian’s sudden death, Terri moved with her mother Ida to Milwaukee, WI near extended family. Terri graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1952. She graduated from the Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. June 2, 1956 she was wedded in Holy Matrimony to Daniel Martin Militzer of Reeseville, WI. The young couple made their home in Waukesha,WI , Appleton, WI and Neenah, WI before moving to Minneapolis in the fall of 1967. For the last 49 years Minneapolis has been “home” for Terri. Dan and Terri have two sons Kent and Kirk. Terri was active in Republican politics at the grass roots level in the 80’s and 90’s assisting many local candidates. She was a self taught exceptional cook and loved to sew. Terri and Dan and their family, were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church of Minnehaha Falls, South Minneapolis and then later Terri and Dan became members at Oak Hill Lutheran Brethren Church in west Bloomington. Terri had strong love for Jesus and greatly appreciated the ministries of KTIS radio, Insight for Living, Bible Study Fellowship and many more Christian ministries. She was a voracious reader and life long learner consuming news articles, the latest books, and her beloved Saturday morning Wall Street Journal. She loved to travel and the highlight was a trip to the Holy Land in 2001. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel of 60 years, her son Kent (Julia) of Sherman Oaks, CA; her son Kirk (Julie) of Eau Claire, WI her three greatly adored grandchildren Danielle (Matt) Casperson of Roseville, MN; Joshua of Eau Claire, WI and Josiah of Fargo, ND. The funeral will be held Friday April 15 at 10 AM with visitation one hour before at Oak Hill Lutheran Brethren Church 8901 France Avenue South West Bloomington.
