Terry Roger Veth

Terry Roger Veth, of Maple Grove, MN, was born in Minneapolis on February 11, 1947, and entered the presence of his Lord on August 8, 2026. He was the youngest of the three children of Dorr Veth and Ruth (Burnham) Veth Ziebarth. Terry placed his faith in Jesus Christ for salvation at the age of 8, and was later baptized at Fourth Baptist Church in Minneapolis. He loved music from an early age, studying brass, percussion, piano, organ, and violin. Some of his fondest memories of his teen years were his participation in the Fourth Baptist youth group under Pastor Don Nelson. Terry frequently served as pianist for the youth group singspirations. Terry's father passed away when Terry was 18. Around this time, Terry invited fellow youth group member Ann Gallien out on a date, because he thought she would be a good listener. It turns out that she was, and they were married in 1970 after they both graduated from the University of Minnesota. Their daughter Marisa was born in 1978. After their marriage, Terry and Ann spent a year in North Carolina before returning to Minneapolis, where Terry completed a master's degree in library science from the University of Minnesota. He then went to work for the Minneapolis Public Library, where eventually he became head of data processing. His responsibilities included digitizing the card catalog and automating various library systems. Failing eyesight forced him to retire in 1993. Terry used his retirement years in service to the church and to others. At the churches where he was a member, he worked as a deacon, trustee, committee member, and contributor to the music ministry. He also lent his handyman skills in working on church facilities. Terry helped to start the music organization Deo Cantamus in 2004, and served as its first executive director. Terry had a wide range of interests and skills-classical music, fishing, gardening, genealogy, home improvement, and woodworking, among others. He especially loved to use his gifts to bless family, friends and neighbors. Terry is survived by his wife Ann; brother Brian (Shirley) Veth of Coon Rapids, MN; brother-in-law Chuck Frame of Northfield, MN; daughter Marisa (James) Anderson of Maple Grove, MN; granddaughters Noelle and Karina Anderson; four nieces and a nephew; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Dorr Veth and Ruth Veth Ziebarth, and sister Marcia Frame. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 13, at 10:00 am at Fourth Baptist Church, 900 Forestview Lane N, Plymouth, MN. Terry's memorial service will be held at 11:00 am at Fourth Baptist, with lunch after the service. A private family interment will follow. Memorials preferred to Fourth Baptist Church or Deo Cantamus of Minnesota.
