Roger Benedict Reger

Roger Reger, 95, of Brooklyn Park, MN passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2023 in his home surrounded by his children. Roger was born on March 21, 1928 to Frederick and Ann Reger. It was in his hometown of Wadena, MN, during his senior year of high school that he met the love of his life, Geraldine "Gerry" Burnes. They wed on April 12, 1948. They filled their 72 years of marriage, before Gerry's passing in 2020, with many adventures of traveling, bowling, golfing and time at their lake cabin. The love and respect they shared for one another was extraordinary. Their greatest joy was raising their five children and cheering on their eleven grandchildren. After graduating from Wadena High School and Dunwoody College, they moved to California where Roger started his career in Steel Erection around the LA area. After moving back to MN, he worked at Holman Erection Co. for 30+ years before retiring. He later came out of retirement to start R&R Steel Erection with his son, Mike Reger. Roger's strong work ethic was evident as he worked in 48 states and on notable jobs including the Foshay Tower, New York Olympic Ski Jumps, and New Orleans Super Dome to name a few. Roger's deep faith was an integral part of him that will always be remembered, along with his gentle kindness, hardworking nature, and fun-loving spirit. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking many trips with his sons, son-in-law, and grandsons and decorating the garage with his trophies. He loved soaking up the sun on Big Sandy Lake, tending to his large backyard garden, or raising cattle at the farm. Roger was preceded in death by siblings, Marion, Vern, Leo, Evelyn, Gene and Phyllis and wife, Gerry Reger; son, Steven Reger; and son-in-law Darreld Bradford. He is survived by his four other children, Mike (Rosie), Cindy, Julie (Jon), Lori (Jack); and daughter-in-law, Nancy. Also, eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Darlene and Jane Burnes and brother-in-law, Robbie Robinson and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, 4/10/2023 at 11:00am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Ave N., Brooklyn Center. Visitation one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes Association.
