Richard Paul Peick

Richard Paul Peick, age 65, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital after a long, stubborn standoff with heart disease. Born on October 27th, 1960, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Richard was the beloved son of Thomas and Patricia Peick. Richard built a fulfilling career as an engineering project manager at Uponor, where he worked for 28 years before retiring in 2018. On July 1st, 1995, he married the love of his life, Tami, and together they shared 30 beautiful years of marriage. Everyone knew Richard for being patient, creative, and incredibly thoughtful. Well-known for his talents in the kitchen and woodworking, Richard possessed a deep, lifelong passion for music. After teaching himself to play the electric bass as a kid, he went on to join many different bands throughout the years, gigging and making money performing shows all around Minnesota, rocking numerous neighborhood block parties, and turning his basement into the ultimate jam room. He was incredibly proud to share his love of music with everyone in his life. When he wasn't practicing or performing, Richard could be found hitting the golf course, watching Minnesota sports, sneaking blueberry muffins to his favorite dog, Jakie, and constantly going the extra mile to help others. Above all, Richard loved his family and friends deeply and cherished every moment spent with them. Richard is survived by his loving spouse, Tami; his children, Sami Clement (Alec) and Zach Peick (Sarah); and his mother-in-law, Sharon Jorde. He also leaves behind eight brothers and sisters, along with all of his nieces and nephews whom he loved spending time with, as well as countless friends he made throughout his life. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Patricia Peick; his brother, Dan Peick; his niece, Shalin; his nephew, Jake; his father-in-law, Richard Jorde; and his beloved black lab, Jakie. Following a private morning service for his spouse, children, siblings, and those personally notified, a public Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Bloomington Event Center in the Lower Knights Hall (1114 American Blvd W, Minneapolis, MN 55420). Our hearts would be full to surround ourselves with everyone who shared in Richard's journey, his beloved extended family, his music community, and the many friends who became family over the years. All are warmly welcome to join us to enjoy drinks, savory appetizers, and desserts as we raise a glass in his honor. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, as heart research gifted us precious extra years with Richard, or Open Arms of Minnesota, which reflects his lifelong passion for feeding and taking care of others.
