Richard David Larson

Richard D. Larson passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 - one day before his 86th birthday. He was at home in hospice care, surrounded by family and friends at the Covenant Living of Golden Valley retirement community of Minnesota. Rich was a kind, loving and patient husband and father, and he will be greatly missed. He was always cracking a joke, but most of all, everyone who knew him will remember his great love for Jesus. Rich was born November 5, 1936 in Little Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of the late Roy B. and Ellen (Enstrom) Larson. After high school, he attended Bethel College and worked as a recording engineer at Sound 80 Studios. He then took courses at the University of Minnesota. While at Bethel College, he met his wife Elaine. They were married in 1958, lived in Minneapolis, and raised three daughters. Rich worked as an Electronics Engineer at Telex for 25 years, and then was Vice President of Engineering at Audio Research Corporation for 25 years. Rich and Elaine have been members of Wooddale Church since 1958. Rich served on many boards at church, sang in the Watchmen Male Chorus and was in charge of building their sound systems. He loved tinkering around with audio equipment, pipe organs and old cars. At the Covenant Living retirement community, Rich was the guy everyone relied on to help with technical needs. Rich is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Carol of Portland, OR, Gail (Todd) Nelson of Orlando, FL, Janet (Steve) Mader of Minnetonka, MN; brother, Dan (Dorathy) Larson of Fridley, MN; brother-in-law, Chester (Joyce) Duck of Cambridge, MN; grandchildren, C.J., Zack, Elyse (Rob), Chris (Kate), Kylie (Matthew), Julia (Gabriel), and Ben; four great-grandchildren, Charlize, Sonja, Lewis, and Caedmon. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 21, at 11 AM at Wooddale Church, 6630 Shady Oak Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Luncheon reception to follow in the Great Room.
