Michael Joseph Kubacki

Kubacki, Michael Joseph Age 68, of St. Francis, Minnesota, earned his wings surrounded by love at home on May 17, 2025. Mike was born on September 1, 1956, in Virginia, Minnesota. He grew up on the Iron Range in Mt. Iron, MN, graduating from Mt. Iron High School in 1974. Mike was part of a strong Catholic family and served as an altar boy at Sacred Heart Church in his youth. Mike worked as a trackman helper at the Minntac Mine for several years before moving to Idaho, where he worked in Sun Valley and enjoyed skiing during the winter seasons. Upon his return to Minnesota, he settled in the Twin Cities and worked for the Anoka-Hennepin School District until his retirement. Mike had a lifelong love of sports, whether playing, watching, or cheering from the sidelines. He played high school football and hockey, with his proud dad watching every game. As an adult, he remained an avid fan of professional athletics. He cheered hardest for the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Wild, but he enjoyed watching nearly any team play. If he wasn't at a game, he was cheering from home, rarely missing a chance to catch the action on TV. He also had a passion for fishing that began at a young age with his dad and continued throughout his life. His skills grew and reached a new level when he got his own boat. Mike found peace and happiness on the water. He especially loved spending time there with friends and family. More than anything, Mike loved his wife, Mara. She was his anchor, his greatest companion, and his fiercest advocate. Their bond was built on laughter, loyalty, and deep love. In his final years, Mara lovingly and selflessly cared for Mike, ensuring he felt supported, comforted, and deeply loved every step of the way. Together, they created a home filled with love, sharing it with their granddaughter Aliyah, who brought Mike great joy and was by his side every day. Mike is survived by his wife Mara Kubacki; his children Tiffany, Theresa, Justin (Alicia), Kaitlynn and Jordyn (Alex); grandchildren: Tino, Aliyah, Bentley, Gabriella, Jaxon, Jade, Greighson, Emery, and Cooper; siblings: James Kubacki, Kathleen (Mark) Walczynski, Mary (Conrad Wolosek) Briskie, Sharon (Peter Fabri) Schur, and Joan (Don) Hill; and sisters-in-law Jeanie Thompson and Christine (Rick) Van Norman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Burrell (Schur) Kubacki. A funeral service and celebration of Mike's life will be held at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria Street N, Shoreview, MN 55126, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will follow at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Parkinson's Foundation or your local Alcoholics Anonymous chapter.
