Mary Burrill-Van Wie

t. Anthony - Mary Burrill-VanWie, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend peacefully left this world on March 15, 2026, next to her beloved husband Dutch. She was born to Fred and Edith Carlson on August 24th, 1931. Her childhood was spent enjoying helping in the family's business, Carlson Dairy, in Alexandra, MN, and watching her mother decorate beautiful wedding cakes as a hobby. On August 14, 1954 she married Dan Burrill after meeting at a Dale Carnegie public speaking seminar. Soon after they welcomed their sons Dave and Steve. She often spoke of the importance of parents giving their children both roots and wings, and that she did. Their home was filled with an abundance of love and many good memories. One of those memories is how she would make a breakfast feast for a huge group of "Little Brothers" of fresh squeezed orange juice and every bite something delicious and homemade. After raising their two boys they moved to a lovely home on the St. Croix river filled with majestic wildlife that could be enjoyed each morning from the window as they sipped their coffee. It was a magical place for her grandchildren to celebrate many Christmas Eves and soak up the delight she poured into them. A few years after her beloved Dan passed away, once again Mary offered her gift of hospitality and hosted her high school class reunion. It was there she met Dutch, her once classmate and soon to be husband. Whether it was ballroom dancing in their winter home of Green Valley, AZ or tending to their garden by the river in the summer they cherished any moment they had together. This gratitude for life, and wisdom gained from each year around the sun, they often would share with younger generations that crossed their path. The last few years were lived at Hayden Grove in St. Anthony, MN. The staff there took such incredible care of them, and visits by great grandchildren brought tremendous joy to their day. Mary is survived by her beloved husband Dutch (Everett), sons Dave (wife Mary), Steve, grandchildren Mike (wife Cassie), Katherine (husband Jeff), Matt, and great grandchildren Sylvie, Romy and Paul. She is preceded in death by her first husband Dan, and great grandson Fulton. Throughout her marriage to Dutch, Mary was embraced by Dutch's children and their families: Jenny (deceased), Linda (Richard), Mike (Barb), Sharon (Tom), and Tom (Dana). A memorial service followed by a luncheon is scheduled at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior on Monday, March 30th at Washburn McReavy-Hillside Funeral Chapel.
