Marjorie Ann Loheit

Marjorie (Margie) Anne Loheit, age 96, of Eden Prairie, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Margie was born on April 26, 1930 in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, to parents Howard and Mary Simon. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley, and the love of her life, her husband David (Dave) Loheit. Margie is survived by her children John (wife Karen), Jane Hogan (husband Tom), and Steve (Jennifer Schultz), and her grandchildren, Ben, Jay, Elizabeth (Zibby), James, Erin, and Luke (wife Lily). Margie grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. After graduating high school, she took a swing at the college life at Western Michigan, but her free spirit, zest for adventure and her "just go for it" mentality soon landed her in a car headed west with several girlfriends, to the glitz and glamour of California in the early 1950's. They landed in San Diego, and her life would never be the same. She made life-long friends and, more importantly, she met the man she would marry...Dave. They married in 1957 and ultimately came back to the Midwest to start a family...starting in Michigan, then Wisconsin, and finally landing in Minnetonka, MN at the place that would be called home for 35 years...3838 Cottage Lane. Margie epitomized the stay-at-home mom of the 60's through 80's...doing everything that was needed to raise the kids in a loving, respectful and peaceful home. She did it all, and always with a smile and carefree sense of humor. She also adored her husband and stood beside him through all of the big career and life decisions that came along. Once the kids were in high school, she returned to her earlier career in the travel industry as a travel agent and got more involved in her favorite activities like gardening, golf, tennis, and attending the theater. She and Dave also made the most of all the travel opportunities that came along due to her job. When Dave died suddenly in 1996, Margie's strength and resolve were tested. She certainly had some moments, but more often than not, she persevered with a smile and sense of humor, and carried out the balance of her life with the same zest that put her in that car headed to sunny California many years earlier. Both pre and post Dave's death, what gave Margie the greatest joy (outside of her kids and grandkids), were her family and extended family in Michigan; the 3838 Cottage Lane neighbors; and her winters in Orange Beach, AL. The family trips to Crystal Lake in Michigan...lying on the beach, playing golf or tennis, or just sitting on the Klauer cottage deck for happy hour. The 4th of July parties and New Year's Eve parties, Christmas gatherings, and so many other neighborhood events on Cottage Lane. The walks on the beach, golfing, cocktail parties, and nights out at Lulu's, Live Bait or the Flora-Bama in Orange Beach. Her life was full of family, full of friends, and full of fun. She will be missed by us all. Her positive demeanor, and always taking things in stride with a smile. A confidante that never judged...she listened, and always found a way to put a positive spin on things. Never a bad word about anyone...in her eyes, everyone was either "cute" or "handsome", and had "a nice personality". Whether it was water, juice, milk, or wine...there was always a reason to "cheers". A kind heart, an idealistic outlook, a belief that there was good in everyone, a shoulder to lean on, a lover of all animals (especially dogs). A woman that embodied the class and innocence of her generation. A wife, a mom, a "granny", a friend...and an impact in each of those roles that will be enduring. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margie's memory to The Animal Humane Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital are appreciated.
