Margaret Ann Schmidt

Margaret (Marge) Schmidt, 72, of Oakdale, MN, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Her passing was unexpected, and none of us were ready to say goodbye. Marge was simply one of the coolest people you could ever know. She knew how to have a good time. She loved road trips to Hinckley and other noodle shops, fresh donuts from Donut Hut, pontoon happy hour, Shamrock Shakes, spending time with family and friends, questionable coffee, and a good Willie Nelson song. She also loved a good Hallmark movie and had a talent for turning something ordinary into an adventure, including a good slow drive-by when there happened to be a police call worth checking out. But the things Marge loved most were her family, especially her grandchildren and daughter, Angie. Family was the foundation of her life, and she cherished those relationships deeply. She especially cherished fishing with her grandsons, cheering them on at their sporting events, and creating treasured memories together in the simple, everyday moments that meant so much. She also had a special bond with her nieces and nephews, and especially her great-nieces and great-nephews. She remained close with her cousins throughout her life and treasured the time she spent with them. She loved helping her sister Brenda at the farm and being part of the everyday moments that made family life special. Marge also maintained a special friendship with her former husband, Ed, and his wife, Kathy. Their continued friendship was a testament to Marge's ability to hold onto the people she cared about and to make room for love and friendship in all its different forms. Marge truly taught us that family mattered most. She was always there to offer a listening ear, a laugh, a helping hand, or an early morning weekend phone call to talk about life. Her final days were met with bravery and love. While we would have given anything for more time, we find comfort in knowing Marge was called to something greater and more beautiful than this world had to offer - a place where the jackpot always hits and the route is always scenic. Until we meet again, we'll carry her with us in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, the traditions she helped create, and all the little things that will remind us of her. Marge will be deeply missed and endlessly loved. We were incredibly lucky to have her, and we will be forever grateful she was ours. We love you, Margie. Save us a seat - and maybe a winning slot machine. Marge is survived by her daughter, Angie; son-in-law, Matt; grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan, and Mason Jonas; father, Ardwin Fleischhacker; siblings, Mark, Joyce, Brenda (John Fowler); sister-in-law, Carole; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Doreen Fleischhacker, and her brother William Fleischhacker. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel, 515 Highway 96, Shoreview, MN. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Odilia's Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria St. N, Shoreview, MN. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the church.
