Lillian Marion Ostlund

Lillian Ostlund, 95, passed away Sun. Dec. 21,2025 at Guardian Angels by the Lake in Elk River, MN. Lillian was born April 13,1930 at Moose Lake, Minnesota, the 10th of 12 children of Arthur and Mary (Sippola) Forse. She grew up on the family farm in Silver Township and graduated Moose Lake High School in the Class of 1948. On March 28,1953 she married Myron Ostlund and they would have four children. They built their home on 66th Ave. NE in Fridley, MN and Lillian was a homemaker and later worked several jobs outside the home after the children were grown. Lillian and Myron were avid and accomplished bowlers, participating in singles and mixed doubles leagues for many years. The display case in their home was filled with trophies from their bowling successes and accomplishments. They often attended or hosted gatherings of family and relatives for a variety of events or occasions and family, church or Myron's Navy LST events were occasions for some extensive travel across the country and into Canada. Among these were trips to Boston, Washington state, the Rocky Mountains, California and Churchill, Manitoba on Hudson's Bay. A specially cherished place was their cabin on Wabedo Lake near Longville, MN. They spent most of their summers there for many years, doing work on the property but finding time to travel the lake on their pontoon boat and fish. Lillian kept all well fed there. Another special place was their condo at Bonita Beach, Florida on the Gulf coast where they spent numerous winters in retirement. After 55 years of marriage Myron died on Thanksgiving Day 2008. Lillian carried on with courage and determination these past 17 years without him. They had moved from their home in Fridley to a condo in Columbia Heights some years before and Lillian remained there until time and health changes required her to move to assisted living. As long as she was able she was a faithful and active member of First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights, MN. Lillian was preceded in death by husband Myron, her parents, siblings and in-laws, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by daughters Gail (Tom) Nacey and Gwen (Rick) Kerner; sons Gary Ostlund and Bruce (Candace Axel) Ostlund; sister Doris Johansen; sisters-in-law Jeanine Fairbanks, Jeannette Kurtz and Lillian (Arlen) Svare; 5 grandchildren Scott, Katie, Shane, Ross and Wade; 4 great grandchildren Tyler, Abbey, Grayson and Rory; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. She is to be buried at Fort Snelling Cemetery with husband Myron.
