LeRoy Herbert Williamson

Williamson, LeRoy Herbert LeRoy Herbert Williamson passed away peacefully on February 7 at his home in Bloomington at the remarkable age of 101. LeRoy was born in Minneapolis, quite literally above a neighborhood bar. From an early age he developed a fascination with aviation at a time when flying itself was still new to the world. That curiosity grew into a lifelong passion and ultimately a career. His early adult years were shaped by the wartime era. During his training he traveled across the country, spending time in Texas, California, and Washington State, where he briefly attended Pullman University as part of his aviation training. The experiences of those years stayed with him throughout his life, and he never forgot the friends who gave their lives in service to their country. After returning home from duty, LeRoy married Jean Robertson, whom he had known since she was a young girl tagging along to the movies with her older brother. Together they built a beautiful life and shared a love that was truly evergreen. Their marriage was filled with devotion, laughter, and partnership. LeRoy worked his way up in aviation from cleaning planes to eventually piloting them as a captain. His determination, perseverance, and strong work ethic helped him achieve the dream he had held since childhood. Those who knew LeRoy remember him as warm, serene, curious, generous, jovial, and just so smart. He was deeply protective of his family and a loyal friend to many. In his later years, he found joy in listening to the music of his youth and playing those familiar melodies on the organ. Above all, he cherished time with his family and was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. LeRoy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. We take comfort in knowing that his long journey has come to a peaceful rest and that he now knows a peace beyond our understanding. Survived by sons Bruce and Paul, granddaughter Sarah, and great-granddaughters Alma and Stella. Memorials preferred to Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association in memory of LeRoy. Funeral service March 6th 10.00 with visitation 1 hour prior to service both at Washburn-McReavy Bloomington Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington (952)884-8145
