Joyce Georgianna Diedrich passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Martin Luther King care center in Bloomington, Minnesota at age 84 years, 6 months, and 28 days. Blessed be her memory. Joyce was born June 11, 1941, in Watertown, Carver County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Lydia (Butterfas) Diedrich. Joyce was baptized as an infant on July 20, 1941, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 3, 1955, at St John's Lutheran Church in Young America, Minnesota. She received her elementary education and graduated May 5, 1955, in Young America, Minnesota, at St John's Lutheran School, Young America, Minnesota. She received her Highschool education and graduated May 28, 1959, in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, from Central High School. She completed college instruction and graduated October 26, 1982, from Metropolitan State University St. Paul, Minnesota. She frequently attended her high school reunions and furthered her college education with additional classes. Joyce grew up on the family farm in rural Norwood Young America and after graduating college stayed in the greater Twin Cities area working several jobs involving military contracting, computer sales and services, and eventually settling in at Hennepin County as a social worker from where she retired. Joyce enjoyed skiing, social events, and international travel. She was a member on the ULLR ski, bike and social club. Joyce also followed the frustration that is the Minnesota Vikings through thick and thin. She enjoyed cooking, experimenting with different foods and recipes. Joyce also had an affinity for collecting antiques, working on personal computers, and sharing her extensive computer knowledge with others. She kept up on current events and liked to discuss the inner workings of politics, politicians, and the state of our country with whomever would listen. She loved to talk and socialize with other people in general, and was always at her best in groups of people that she knew. One of her greatest loves was her dog Annie whom she cared for deeply. Some of Joyces best times were spent with family and friends such as New year's celebrations with her friend Olga Engebretson, and birthday parties with her cousins and friends at Unhinged pizza in Waconia. Joyce will remembered for her giving nature, fiery personality, no nonsense view of life, and the combination of beer and pickles at Christmas in Waconia. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Lydia Diedrich. She is survived by Brother, Bill Diedrich and wife Karen; Friend, Olga Engebretson; Cousins, Renja DeGroff and husband Adam; Nathan Zellmann and wife Stacy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. The family of Joyce Diedrich would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and kindness in this time of sorrow.
