Joyce Elaine Davis

Joyce Elaine Davis Born March 13, 1943, of Wessington Spring SD to Loren and Esther Davis; Sister to Marlin (deceased) & Harvey (Mae), Larry (Jeannie) and Gayle (Andy) and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews. A quiet soul that made a huge impact on so many family & friends. In search of expanding her love for numbers and her accounting career she relocated to Minnesota in 1969 to follow her belief that education is so important. After her graduation from the University of Minnesota in Business Accounting, she began working first with a Minneapolis Newspaper, then at General Mills and then obtained a position at HB Fuller where she met many wonderful lifelong friends and whom she kept in touch with even longer after she retired in 2006. Her greatest friend she found was her friend and partner of almost 50 years Falline Sundquist. Together they share the love of travel, adventure and most importantly family. Falline was the friend who challenged her to expand her horizons, and Joyce kept Falline grounded. Joyce and Falline purchased a home in 1988 together in New Brighton Minnesota where it became "Grandma's House". From this house, it became a "home" to all of their "kids". "Grandma's house" was where love was known and the roots were established for the family. "Grandma J" as she was known by her adopted family Ken, Kay (John), Kelly (Rick) & Kaela (Dean); grandchildren Jeffrey (Meghan) , Alex, Amy, Amber (Randy), Adam, Johnny, Austin (Madison) & Anthony and great-grandchildren Elliott, Nora, Audrey and soon to be #4; whom will never get to meet the legendary "Grandma J" but will hear stories to keep her memory alive and will forevermore share the constant absence of her quiet presence. Joyce enjoyed watching her "kids" grow - never missing an event. Whether it was a sporting event, a wedding, another grandchild coming into the world she was always there watching them all excel and expand their horizons and to lend a helping hand whenever they needed. Joyce was always the quiet voice that her family heard cheering the loudest. Joyce loved going home to visit her family in South Dakota and kept in close contact with them all, never missing a family reunion or gathering, whether a wedding, graduation or the passing of a loved one, family remained an important part of her life. Her family will miss her at all family events, her absence will be felt for generations, the books of Soku will sit unfinished, her puzzles will be put back into the boxes, but the memories of her sitting there with us all will remain forever. Her last words said it all ... to all of us... "I Love You Too" ... (and we knew she meant it). A funeral service will be held May 2, 2026, at 11:00 am at Washburn McReavey 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd, Coon Rapids, MN; with visitation starting at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am A luncheon will be held after at Joyce & Falline's home 1707 Daisy Court New Brighton, MN starting at 1:00 pm. A private internment will occur at a future date.
