Dr. Jonathan W. Rogers, born July 25, 1936 in Moline, IL, died November 10, 2023, Waconia, MN, at the age of 87. Surrounded by his family, he died peacefully. Preceded in death by parents Helen & Howard Rogers, brother Thomas W. Rogers, stepbrother Howard Rogers, Jr. Leaving behind is his wife Patricia Rogers, Waconia, MN, sons Christopher (Darrah) Rogers, Kalispell, MT, and Thomas Rogers (Meagan Dailey), Bozeman, MT, daughter Stacy (Peter) Nelson, Waconia, MN, son Brian Flicek, Harris, MN, grandsons, Jacob and Mitchell Nelson, Waconia MN. Education: Moline Public Schools, Moline IL, 1954; BA Chemistry Denison University, Granville, OH, 1958-awards: Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa; MD degree, Case Western Reserve, 1962; Internship and 1st-year medical residency, University of Washington, 1962-1964, USAF-Offutt AFB, N.E. 1964-1966; Medical residency and 1-year Cardiology fellowship U of MN, 1966-1969; Cardiology fellowship U of M, 1973-1974; Medical Practice, Midelfort Clinic, Eau Claire, WI 1969-1973,1974-1977; Cardiology Practice, Minneapolis Cardiology Associates and Minneapolis Heart Institute, 1977-1998. Jon was one of the six founders of the Minneapolis Heart Institute. Jon had a long, full and blessed life. He was devoted to his family and was greatly influential in their lives. He was dedicated and fulfilled in his profession. He liked people, enjoyed his patients and his many colleagues. He continued to work towards the perfect golf game and remained passionate about current events and politics. Jon will be remembered by his family and friends for his sharp mind, his big heart, his sense of humor, and his lifelong dedication to his family. Professionally, Jon saved lives. But for those of us who had the privilege of knowing him personally - being mentored, entertained, inspired, taught, challenged, and lovingly exasperated by him - his legacy is just as great. His leisure activities were hunting with and owning dogs, (Deli and Audie), golf, summers at Sandpiper, Ludington, MI, wintering in Ft. Myers, FL. Recently, enjoying nature and sunset views on Lake Waconia, Waconia, MN. Jon loved God, his family, his friends and his country. Arrangements to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Minneapolis Heart Institute directed to the Robert Van Tassel Innovations Center or the Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley, MN.
