James Gilbert Seidlitz

James "Jim" Gilbert Seidlitz was born on September 21, 1951 to Vivian and Gilbert Seidlitz. He grew up with his brother Jack and sister Mary in South Minneapolis, he graduated from Vocational HS in 1969 and served as an MP in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from military service, he married his first wife (Lynn), bought a home, had a son (Mike) and settled down in East Bloomington, where he would live in various locations for the remainder of his life. He married his second wife, Joan and they were able to enjoy over 20 years of marriage together. Jim worked for over 30 years as a clerk at the Postal Service and was able to retire from that position in the mid-1990s. We went on to work several other positions such as customer service at Sun Country Airlines and finally as a driver for Care Cab. Within the last few years he would often Uber, in large part to meet other people, chat them up and learn about all of the different things they were doing. In his retirement, he loved getting out on local par 3 and executive golf courses. When Jim stored his golf clubs for the last time, he continued to follow broadcast of many sports. He will be remembered fondly by his son Mike and his friends. He always took an interest in people, what they thought about things and what they were up to. Jim expressed his love and concern to Joan every day. He was protective, patient and kind. His life was guided by his faith in Jesus. This appeared in his actions, his service to others and how he accepted all. He had a light attitude and a little silliness in his nature. Jim loved being a grandpa and liked to attend as many of the kids activities when he could. In the last years of his life he struggled with health issues that didn't always allow him to do that but he liked to keep up with them through calls, texts and watching James play baseball on the GameChanger. He is preceded in death by his parents (Vivian and Gilbert), brother John, cousin (Kay); he is survived by his wife Joan, son Mike (Jessica), grandchildren (James and Anna); sister Mary (Robert), nephews (Scott, Ryan, Tony, Kyle, Andrew), sisters-in-law Jean and Jane (Jay), sister-in-law Robin Jim was not a man that wanted a fuss made about him but he always tried to make others around him feel special. He was interred with honors at Fort Snelling on July 3rd a private ceremony with close family and friends.
