Inez Emma Rude

Inez Emma (Reyes) Rude 1934 to 2025 We are saddened to announce that our mother, Inez Emma (Reyes) Rude (91 years old), passed away on December 7, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Chapel at 5125 West Broadway, Crystal, Minnesota. Visitation will be at 10am, Service at 11am and refreshments to follow. Inez was born during the 1934 World's Fair in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Joseph Reyes and Marie Drage. They had four children: Inez, Bette, Bob and Bill. She enjoyed swimming in Lake Michigan, getting treats from the local candy store and playing with the neighborhood kids. After her parent's divorce, Inez and Bette moved with their mother to Sabin, Minnesota. Her mother remarried and that union adds another sister, Christine. Life on the farm was not an easy life. The transition from a big city to a small town was very hard for her. High school graduation brought independence, but also came with heartache. Educate at MN School of Business where she became a Secretary. Soon after, Kidney Disease nearly took her life. The U of Mn hospital helped her recover, but she had to rebuild everything. She met and married Wyman Rude. They started a family in South Minneapolis and raised 3 children. (Eileen, Diane, Randy) Since our mother did not drive, we took the bus everywhere. Our family moved to Wilmar, Minnesota. She earns a Degree in Sales & Marketing at Willmar Community College. They brought a drug store in Dawson, Minnesota. She had a hand in every aspect of the store and was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce. After of our father died, she continues life in Willmar. She enjoyed tennis, book clubs and a many good meals with friends. After surviving breast cancer and a small stroke, she moved to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with son Randy. They sold their homes and lived together for 25 years. This provided opportunity to enjoy family and her only grandchild, Noah. We went to museums, movies, traveled, concerts and theatrical productions. She continued to enjoy book clubs, education and very politically involved. The last year and a half, stairs were a major issue. Determined to stay independent, she moved to an assistant living community. She rebuilt a relationship with God, read close to 500 books, walked 3 times a day, had many family and friends that catered to her needs. She would say, she did not have a good beginning, but she was having a great ending.
