Howard George Hunstad

Howard George Hunstad was born May 3, 1936 in Foldahl Township, MN. The son of Anton & Ethel (Haugen) Hunstad. He graduated from high school in Argyle, MN 1954. Enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sheridan, Illinois from 1955-1958. Started his family in 1959, resided in NE Minneapolis, MN, then his next fifty years in Blaine, MN, and the last 5 years in Wyoming, MN. He worked many years with his brother Earl Hunstad with an HVAC company and then with Bemis Tape, where he retired. Howard was actively involved in the Ham Lake Lions Club for so many years, always enjoying the many things they did to help the community. He bowled in leagues, and was also a bowling coach to the Saturday morning kids league at Maple Lanes and did many traveling bowling tournaments. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being outside with family and friends whether it was just an early morning tee off or playing in golf leagues. A lot of weekends in the summer there would be camping trips with family and friends. He played softball for many years and ended his softball career playing for a church league with Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Howard was a member and was truly dedicated with the Ham Lake Lions Club for 40+ years. He was an avid member of the Fridley American Legion and was very blessed to have participated in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with brothers Ralph and Duane Hunstad. Howard is survived by his children; Debra Hunstad of Wyoming, MN, Diane (Mark) MacDonald of Wyoming, MN, Troy Hunstad of Maple Lake, MN, Lisa (Sean) of Port Aransas, TX, Dedra (Robert) Gullickson and Linda Hunstad of Coon Rapids, MN. His Grandchildren; Jessa (Jake) Majesty, Ashley Majesty, Danielle (Justin) Weckop, Joey Weckop, Jamie Weckop, Luke (Emily) MacDonald, Stephanie (Terry) MacDonald, Great Grandchildren; Melvin Mitchell, KellieAna Quinn. He is also survived by his companion of 25 years LaVonne Haugen of Onamia, MN, Brothers Ralph Hunstad and Duane Hunstad. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Ivadell Clausen, Earl Hunstad, Darrell Hunstad, Donald Hunstad, and Joan Rousseau. Special thanks to Moments Hospice
