Frederick Anthony Carlone

Frederick (Fred) A. Carlone, age 83, of Bloomington, MN, took the journey home on June 21, 2026, to be with our awesome God. Fred grew up in Miami, FL. He worked at his uncle's gas station in high school and ran it in the evenings. Fred joined the Air Force Reserve out of high school, married his high school sweetheart, and attended college at night. His first big job was with a savings and loan bank, then he accepted a job with Burger King's corporate office in Miami. FL. In 1981, he was offered a job in Minneapolis, MN, with Pillsbury Company as Director of Telecommunications, where he introduced a new technology called Voice Mail! After Pillsbury, he worked at US West, Connect Consulting, Xiotech Corp, and ultimately retired from Health Partners. It was obvious to all that Fred cared for and worried for his family daily. There's no doubt he'll continue to gently guide his loved ones as they learn to navigate life without his physical presence reminding them not to step in the oil, or suggesting the best way to get a freebie, or teaching them it's perfectly appropriate to add weird ingredients to pancakes. He definitely had an interesting perspective about life, and he wasn't afraid to share his opinion. This trait defined the family dynamic and created many interesting family events with his children and grandchildren speaking their minds, but knowing that no matter what, they were always loved. Always. His children and grandchildren are blessed to have witnessed the bond Fred had with his wife, Janet, for almost 64 years. Their love inspired them all, and they are forever thankful to have been a part of their love story. Fred's family will continue to support and nurture that love while always wanting to "be there" and be a part of something special. They are blessed and find comfort in knowing that the entire beautiful family of 15 was able to get together this past Memorial Day. It was Fred who pushed to take a large family photo, and his family is so thankful for that time and the memory of the day together. That photo is proof of Fred and Janet's love for each other. Anyone who knew Fred knew he had a quirky and quite funny dry sense of humor. He was able to laugh where others may be hesitant. We think he would want us to find joy in the smallest distractions and to smile and laugh when you think of him. Fred is survived by his wife, Janet, and three daughters, Audrey Millard, Cathy (Barry) Larson, Teresa (Joe) Nieszner, and five wonderful grandchildren, Lucas, Jacob, Carson, Chloe, and Eleanor. If you are able, please join us for Fred's celebration of life. We would love for you to come in your favorite outfit or bright and happy colors. No need for black here! Come ready to smile and remember the happy memories. In the family photo, Fred is wearing the shirt that he most often grabbed when heading out to a family function. It was dubbed his "party shirt". A Celebration of life will be held July 11th at 11am with a visitation with one hour prior beginning at 10am the Washburn-McReavy Dawn Valley Chapel. Reception to follow.
