Fay Lynette Chestnut

Fay Lynette (Larson) Chestnut was born on May 1st, 1956 in Alexandria, MN to Rodger Leslie and Marie Louise (Kastler) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Osakis Lutheran Church. After graduating from Osakis Public School in 1974, Fay moved to the Twin Cities to discover her place and pursue her passions. She began working in Minneapolis and found her niche in real estate. She was a trail blazer in the industry, making a name for herself amongst the metro area's best in the commercial real estate business. It was during this time Fay would meet her true companion, Jack Chestnut. The two were married on May 18th, 1996. In the years that followed they would show the rest of us what a deep, true love was. Whether it was a round of golf, taking in a show, having dinner with friends, or traveling across the globe, Jack and Fay were a dynamic pair, sharing together all that life had to offer. Immersing herself in the cuisine and culture, Fay had traveled with Jack by her side to every continent in the world. By far their favorite experiences were taken in by cruises aboard the Crystal Serenity. Every adventure Fay took, she and Jack would make new friends. Maintaining relationships was important to her so connecting with her family and friends was something she did often and with pride. She made everyone in her life feel special. This was especially true of her nieces, nephews and grandkids that she was so proud of. It wasn't just people she cared for, but Fay was also an excellent fur mom to four very special Westie pups over the years; Dewars, Stoli, Cutty and Callie. Fay was a philanthropist with a generous heart. She would attend many charity events over the years and supported incredible organizations, such as Minnesota Heart Institute, Golisano Children's Hospital of SW Florida and F.I.S.H of Sanibel-Captiva. Fay had an eye for color. Whether it was in fashion or design she always knew what was trending and it showed in both how she carried herself and in the beautifully kept homes she and Jack shared in Minnesota and Florida. The landscaping was always done perfectly to showcase the flowers she chose, and the colors would all coordinate in a way to not take away from their individual beauty. Fay was known for her ability to pull off an exquisite party where no detail too small went unnoticed. Be it an intimate dinner gathering or a large gala, she would make it happen like it was no trouble at all! In the words of a dear friend, "her vitality lit up a room and her kindness was above and beyond." These words ring true of Fay's spirit and the memory of her smile and laugh will be sorely missed. Fay passed away unexpectedly on March 20th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents Rodger and Marie and infant brother James. She is survived by her husband, Jack Chestnut and her faithful pup Callie of Minnetonka, MN; Jack's children Leslie Chestnut, Tracy van der Leeuw, Allison (Scott) Rosenburg and Martin Chestnut; Jack's grandchildren; her siblings Gregory (Brenda) Larson of Champlin, MN, Rodger Gary (Karen) Larson of Osakis, MN and Brenda (Dana) Haak of Garfield, MN; nieces and nephews Jocelyn, Justin, Brady, Sydney and Marissa and their families; uncle Dale Larson and aunt Louaine Larson, many cousins and numerous close friends in the Sanibel, FL community. Private interment. A Celebration of Life for Fay will be held October 12, 2024, noon to 3:00 pm at the Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville, MN. A Celebration of Life for Jack Chestnut will also be held on this date and time at Midland Hills. Arrangements are being handled by Washburn-McReavy Funeral home, Edina Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Golisano Children's Hospital of SW Florida and Parkinson's Foundation.
