Edward Richard Novak

Rick NOVAK, Age 76 of Shoreview, MN, Rick passed away on May 28th after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Rick's adventurous and generous spirit served as an example to all who loved him as a life well lived. He was the eye behind the camera at family events, a genuine smile and ready laugh, the hands that pitched in wherever he was needed, and a heart that loved his friends and family joyfully and without judgement. Rick gave to his community and loved ones in many ways. He volunteered his time with the Merrick Community Food Shelf, the Roseville Lions Club, FOP Lodge 1, and Can Do Canines. Rick would never turn away a friend or family member in need of his support, and could often be heard saying "just put me to work". He showed his love through service to others. Rick loved laughing with his many friends and family. From his elementary school years to high school, and later, the BNSF RR, FOP Lodge 1, his ACME Investment Club, his local card club, and the Evergreen Shores neighborhood, Rick valued his friendships and held them throughout his entire life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Evelyn Novak, his best friend and brother, Bill, his parents-in-law, Robert and Isabelle (Mickey) Wallace, nephews, Ben Wallace, Scott Wallace, and infant niece, Baby Girl Wallace, special friends, Lloyd and Willma Peterson, and his beloved bloodhounds, Kramer and Sadie. Rick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan (Wallace) Novak, sister, Mary, sister-in-law, Jean, in-laws Dennis (Kathy), Dean (Heidi), David (Pat), Tim (Angie), Sharon, Karen (Mark), Barbara (Dan), seven God children, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him very much. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4th at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Centerville, MN. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am, service at 11:00, with a lunch to follow. Following in the footsteps of his brother, Bill, Rick is donating his remains to the Anatomy Bequest Program through the University of Minnesota. His cremains will be interred in a columbaria next to his brother, Bill, at the Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville, MN.
