Betcher, Doris Saturday, November 29, Doris Betcher left this life for Heaven. Now Heaven is more organized; everything is in its place, instructions have been left for future arrivals and all have been included. No questions need be asked, the manual is written in such great detail. It's the way mom did everything in her life; completely, fully, and as well as she was able. With Christmas approaching, the tree is already up with lefse and ginger bread already made. Krumkake, spritz, and julekake were no doubt not far behind. Doris enjoyed baking with and for neighbors, church friends and family. Doris was born on the family farm October 22, 1926, in Alice, North Dakota. Proud of her North Dakota heritage, she never lost touch with family, friends or those in need. Her letter writing is legendary for its details, exhaustive descriptions and commentaries. Yet, this is what we will miss; a full and complete picture of a meal, concert, trip or occasion, as only she could bring it to life. Charter member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church, her legacy was celebrated this past year with "Doris Betcher, Our Church Lady Day". She was a consummate volunteer at Groveland School, Minnetonka City Hall, Minnetonka Senior Center and Children's Home Society of Minnesota. Doris joins her husband, Harry, and parents, Charlie and Rhea Wadeson, who have passed on before her. She is survived by her sons; Randy, (Marcy), grandchildren Andrew and Kira; Tom (Kathy Erickson) and someone always considered part of the family, who had a special spot in mom's heart, Heather Chase. To the many friends Doris made along her journey, she derived countless hours of enjoyment in your company, writing you letters, cooking you a meal, talking to you on the phone or in the community. Her grounding was in her relationships, communion and service to others. Memorial service Saturday, December 13, 1:00pm at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3121 Grove-land School Road, Wayzata, MN, with a lunch reception to follow.
