Donna Mae (Erie) Schwab, age 90, passed away peacefully at home while holding hands with her daughter Barbara and surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She is survived by daughters JoAnn (Chris Jr.) Sauro of North Branch, MN; Sharon (Keith) Enget of Coon Rapids, MN; and Barbara Schwab of New Brighton, MN. Grandchildren Chris Sauro III, Angela Sauro, Sharon (Chris) Leslie and Thomas Enget. Great-grandchildren Jackson Leslie, Allison Leslie and Tucker Hentges. Grandson in-law Martin Hentges. Sisters Beverly Erie and Janet (Glenn) Osmonson. Brother-in-laws Clyde Hare and Wally Schwab. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, friends, neighbors and church family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Clinton in 1980; by siblings Doris (Floyd) Sather; Carol Tollefson; Florence (Forrest) Hanson; Harvey (Marilyn) Erie; Orvin Erie and Margaret Hare. Donna Mae was born on July 7, 1933 in Pine Lake Township, Clearwater County Minnesota on the family farm to parents Oscar and Anna (Offerdahl) Erie. She was the sixth of nine children and proud of her Norwegian heritage. Donna Mae was baptized and confirmed at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick. She graduated from Gonvick High School in 1951. Donna Mae moved to Minneapolis November 1951. She met the love of her life and was married on September 27, 1952. In October of 1958, they bought their first and only home in New Brighton. Together they raised three beautiful daughters and were active in their community. Donna Mae was a Sunday School teacher, worked in the church nursery and supported the funeral lunch crew. She was a member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Kindergarten Roundup, Elementary School Room Mother and a chaperone for the Irondale High School Marching and Pep Band. Donna Mae was employed by Medtronic Inc. for 23 years. She worked in the Clean Room and Parts Cleaning. In 1992, Donna Mae won and was awarded the Star of Excellence. She retired on June 25, 1995 and became of a member of the Very Special People (VSP) Retiree Club. Donna Mae was an active volunteer and attended social club activities. Her hobbies included volunteering, helping seniors, genealogy, collecting antiques, gardening and canning, working in her yard, reading the newspaper, playing Bingo, dancing, going to parades, attending concerts and dining out. She was a huge sports fan. Over the years, she had Minnesota Gophers, Twins, North Stars and Kicks season tickets. Minnesota's Pride on Ice Men's Hockey Team was her favorite. Her most important roles were being a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She attended many church programs, dance recitals, band concerts and sporting events. Generously hosted holidays and birthday celebrations. Donna Mae was the family matriarch and led by example. She leaves a legacy of being a Christian lady with integrity, compassion, exemplary morals, demonstrating the value of family and importance of friends. Donna Mae will live in our hearts forever. The last four years of her life Donna Mae was met with multiple health challenges and the Covid pandemic. She was able to remain in her home with the help, support and caregiving by her family, especially from her daughter Barbara, and the care from Dr. Kurt Elting-Ballard. Visitation 4-7:30 pm, Thursday, June 6th at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel, 515 Hwy 96 W., Shoreview. A celebration of life and funeral service on Friday, June 7th at 11:00 am at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow. Burial at Morningside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Coon Rapids.
