Delores Keizer

Delores (Maas) Keizer was born January 18, 1949 in Parkston, SD hospital and died unexpectedly July 21, 2019 in St Paul, MN. Her parents were Ted and Aletha Maas who farmed near Harrison, SD. She was the second of five daughters. Delores was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord and was confident in His loving promise of eternal life for her. Delores married John Keizer in 1972, at the Christian Reformed Church in Harrison, SD. July 25, 2019 would have been their 47th wedding anniversary. Delores lived a life that exemplified love, especially toward children, whether it was her own grandchildren or the many students she taught over her 35 year career. She was a lover of learning, loved being outside walking, tending her flowers and enjoying all the color and vibrancy that presented itself in creation. Delores graduated from Dordt College in 1971 with a degree in teaching. Delores served the communities in which she lived: Memphis, TN, Grand Rapids, MI, Zillah, WA, Sussex, NJ, and Rapid City, SD by teaching elementary grade students - primarily kindergarten and third grade. As a lifelong lover of learning, at the age of 59, she acquired a degree in special education, a career path that she pursued until her retirement in 2015. After her retirement she continued working part time tutoring dyslexic students. Since March, 2019, Delores and her husband have been living in White Bear Lake, MN enjoying spending time being close to grandchildren. Along with her husband John, Delores is survived by her three sons Andy (and Rebekah) with grandchildren Avery, Miren and Kyra of Phoenix, AZ, Robb (and Tracy) with grandchildren Aletha and Judah of St Paul, MN and Joel of Winterville, NC. Delores is also survived by her four sisters, Jean McMillan (Don), Cheryl Bunting (Bill), Marilyn Derks (Dan) & Leanne Augustine (Charles). She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Aletha Maas. Visitation 5-8 PM, Thursday, July 25 at Washburn-McReavy New Brighton Chapel, 706 4th Ave NW, New Brighton, MN. Funeral service 10 AM, Friday, July 26, with visitation one hour prior at Faith Christian Reformed Church, 1600 Silver Lake Rd NW, New Brighton, MN.
