Dallas Eugene Herrick

Dallas Eugene Herrick was born in Montevideo, MN on January 2, 1939, to Cyril and Dora (Schultz) Herrick. Dallas grew up in New Ulm, MN and was the fifth out of six children. Given the nickname "Ace," he excelled at baseball, basketball, and football. Dallas graduated from New Ulm High School in 1957 and went on to attend Macalester College in St Paul, MN where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. After college, Dallas served his country in the Army from 1962 - 1963. While home on leave, he met Judy Halstenson whom he married on May 14, 1966. The couple moved to Richfield, MN where they lived until 1968 when they bought their first and forever home in Bloomington, MN where they would spend the next 55 years. They were blessed to raise two daughters, Amy and Wendy in their beautiful home. Dallas worked in public accounting for six years at Coopers & Lybrand before moving on to work in the accounting department at Ecolab in St. Paul, MN for 27 years. When he retired, Dallas and Judy bought a lovely condo in Sarasota, FL where they wintered for many years. Dallas loved to curl, golf and exercise. He loved to feed the birds, grow asparagus and tomatoes in his garden and plant beautiful flowers every spring. Dallas loved his four grandchildren, Matt, Sam, Jack, and Emma. He followed all of their sports and successes in school and was so proud of them. He loved to cook and made many wonderful meals and baked the best apple pie. In 2023, Dallas and Judy moved to The Pillars of Lakeville where Dallas spent his remaining years surrounded by kind neighbors and staff. Dallas is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judy (Halstenson) Herrick; his daughters Amy (Dave) Njaa of Lakeville, MN and Wendy (Darin) Ebeling of Rosemount, MN; his four grandchildren, Matt and Sam Njaa of Lakeville and Jack and Emma Ebeling of Rosemount; his siblings JoAnn Meyer, Sid (Nyla) Herrick and Kathy Grebner and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dallas is preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Dora Herrick; his brother and sister-in-law Virgil and Shirley Herrick; his sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Gordon Schroeder and brothers-in-law Jack Meyer, Wenz Weisner and Leo Grebner and many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life to come in the spring. Memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of your choice.
