Cynthia Lee Sulzbach

Cynthia (Cindy) Lee Sulzbach, age 81, 0f Apple Valley, MN died January 23, 2026, at The Rosemount Memory Care facility in Rosemount, MN, after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer's. Her visitation will be Friday. March 20, 4-7 pm at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral home, 5000 W. 50th St. and Hwy 100, Edina, MN 55436. Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 21, at 11am, with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Living Word Lutheran Church, 4300 Nicols Rd., Eagan, MN 55112. Cynthia was born while her parents, LeRoy and Gladys Woolson, were living in St. Croix Falls, WI. At the age of 4, her parents moved to Frederic, WI and later to Hastings, MN when she was 8. She graduated from Hastings High School and Augsburg College in Minneapolis, where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education. She taught fourth grade in Colombia Heights, New Richmond, WI, and Minnewashta Elementary. After her marriage to David Sulzbach, she took time off from teaching to raise her children, Erich and Amy. Later, she worked at Michael Dowling School, helping special needs children. She ended her career in the Minneapolis Schools supervising special needs high school students in the Transitional Plus Program, while they learned basic office skills on the job at Social Security. Cynthia was a person of strong faith. She loved Jesus very much and spent 21 years serving as a small group leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She also taught Sunday School at her church. She loved reading and was very creative with knitting, crocheting, and hand-stamping greeting cards that encouraged the many who received them. People loved coming to her beautifully decorated home to enjoy her good cooking and warm hospitality. Most of all, she loved people and her family and had a way of being able to connect with anyone, even if she had just met them. During her years of struggling with Alzheimer's, her husband David lovingly cared for her at home until the last 10 months of her life. After she entered the nursing home, he showed exceptional love for her by visiting her once or twice every day to help feed her. He also distinguished himself by singing hymns to her. Cynthia is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cynthia is survived by her husband, David Sulzbach of Apple Valley, MN; son Erich (Lisa) Sulzbach of Chicago, IL; daughter Amy (Kathy) Sulzbach-Towle of Rosemount, MN; her sister Sharon (Sheldon) Groff of Willmar, MN; her sister Meridee (Pat) Banas of Balboa Island, CA; her niece Allison (Eric) Nelson of Springfield, OR; and her nephew Adam (Susan) Botz of Chaska, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
