Celestine Murl Banmore

On Monday, November 28, 2022, Celestine, 79, went to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Celestine was born on January 17, 1943. She had four children Keith, Shelley, Vanessa, and Monica. Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, at Unity Church Unitarian, 732 Holly Ave., St. Paul 55104. Private family viewing at 1 pm and services beginning at 2 pm. Celestine arrived in St. Paul, MN at the age of 7 with her parents Ella B. and Willie Lee Traxler and her two younger siblings. They were among the many St. Paul families that lived on Rondo Street and were then relocated because of Interstate 94. She graduated from St. Paul Mechanic Arts High School. After high school she went to Beauty School and obtained a license as a beautician. She was a very well-known hair stylist in the St. Paul area and was hand-picked out of beauty school by salon owner, Tommie and worked in Tommie's salon throughout the 60's. She then continued to work in other St. Paul hair salons. She left the business and attained employment at the University of Minnesota Hospital in the medical records Department. After several years of office work, she returned to her first love and achieved her cosmetologist license again. She relocated to Minneapolis in the early 80's and worked at Nefertiti's Salon and then at Sonya's Salon, retiring in 2007. Although she hated to fly Celestine loved to travel. If you said let's go and casinos were involved, she was ready. She was a novice painter and loved painting portraits of flowers for relaxation. At one point, some of the artwork was displayed in a small boutique and she gifted some to friends and family members. Celestine was the self-appointed matriarch of the family after her mother passed. Over the years, at one time or another, her siblings would come to her for advice, and she did not mind giving it! Each of them could tell a story of how she helped and guided them with advice unsolicited or otherwise. Over the years, their love poured out for their elder sister, and it did not go unnoticed. She may not have always expressed it, but in her heart, we knew she loved it. Celestine, you will truly be missed. We love you! Celestine was preceded in death by her son, Keith Johnson, grandsons Keenan Johnson and Adolphus Johnson, sister, Patricia Traxler, brother Willie Lee Traxler Jr., nephews Jermaine Traxler, Robert Molin Jr., and Kendrick Traxler. Parents Ella B. and Willie Lee Traxler. She's survived by daughters Shelley Bryant nee Johnson (Mark), Vanessa Morris (Billy), and Monica Morris. Sisters Caroline Traxler, Willie Ann Page, Elaine Rose nee Traxler (Andrew), Eula Jewel Rundles nee Traxler (Johnny), Doreen Traxler, Lois Traxler, Phyllis Traxler, and brother Daniel Traxler along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins
