Catherine Ann Anderson

Catherine A. Anderson (nee Dufresne) Catherine Ann (Dufresne) Anderson was born on January 3, 1942 to Agnes LeRoux Dufresne and Raoul Dufresne and passed away on March 13, 2026 in Bothell, WA due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She grew up on a farm in Centerville, MN. She was one of eleven children. She graduated from White Bear Lake High School in 1960. Cathy married her high school sweetheart, David Anderson, in 1963. They were married for 50 years. Once she married Dave, they built a home in White Bear Township. She stayed home with their four children and helped do the office work for Dave's businesses (snow plowing and maintenance). Cathy began working at Central Junior High School (White Bear Lake School District) in the library as an aide once their children were older. Cathy retired from the junior high school library job in 2004. Cathy enjoyed hosting family and friends at her home where she always had fresh cookies and a cup of coffee available. Family gatherings around the holidays were always boisterous and full of laughter, games, and food. She was an excellent cook and used her fresh produce from her garden. She enjoyed family vacations in Northern Minnesota. She also enjoyed visiting her sister, Pat, especially at her lake cabin in Northern Minnesota and Florida retirement home. Cathy really enjoyed having her siblings over for dinner and remained close to them all throughout her life. Cathy was the caregiver for her husband for many years as he dealt with numerous health issues until the day he passed. She moved to Bothell, WA in 2020 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Mark. However, her heart was forever tied to Minnesota. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents, and seven of her siblings (Clint, Warren, Joyce LeMay, Gordon, Joan LaMotte, Marlene LeMay, Patricia Markus). She is survived by her children Cheri VerMurlen (Mark), Diane Hansen (Jeff), James (Amy Radzom-Paape), and Scott (Rose Sybrant); her grandchildren: Marie VerMurlen (Josh Zimmerschied), Josh (Stephanie), Jill Roddy (James), Lori VerMurlen (Kate Roach), Johanna, Joy, Geoff, Mikela, Elizabeth Hansen, and Rebekkah Hansen; her five great-grandchildren; and her siblings Raoul (Sharon), Richard (Jane), and James (Lynn) and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 with a visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, and luncheon to follow at the Shoreview Chapel of: Washburn-McReavy Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell 515 Hwy 96 W Shoreview, MN 55126
