Carlos Amador Grados Pinto

Dr. Carlos Amador Grados Pinto died peacefully in his home in Coon Rapids on Monday the 6th of July 2026 with his wife Gladys at his side. Carlos was born on June 4th, 1935 in Cuzco, Peru. He grew up in Lima Peru where he received his Doctor of Medicine. In 1963 he was invited to train at St Mary's Hospital as an OB/GYN doctor, working in the busiest labor and delivery department in the State. After 5 years of working at St. Mary's Hospital he moved to Coon Rapids where he practiced at the Coon Rapids Clinic and Mercy Hospital for 32 years. Daily, he would drive to their Flora Street home to enjoy a homemade Peruvian lunch made by his lovely wife Gladys, dedicated to keeping their marriage strong by spending every moment he could with his wife and engaging in family activities on his days off from work. Dr. Grados had the privilege of bringing well over 10,000 children into the world during those two generations. When he and his wife retired after 37 years, they dedicated themselves to the church by attending daily mass and going weekly to the Blessed Sacrament. They joined the community of Lifetime fitness, maintaining their health daily through their fitness equipment and pool workouts with their friends. They loved taking cruises and enjoyed traveling to Europe and taking many trips with their church family. Carlos was also an avid Vikings Fan and would experience the wins and losses enthusiastically with energy and grace! But most of all, they loved spending quality time with their growing family, and as each grandchild came into the world they cherished every moment, appreciating the wonderful blessing of family time together. "The family" was Carlos' favorite subject to photograph and there are thousands and thousands of photos of his Wife, Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren. Unfortunately, he suffered in his last year of life with chronic physical health and memory issues, making for a restrained lifestyle with his inability to freely move and participate in favorite familiar ways. And yet he did not let these problems steal the core of his soul, for he was always ready with a smile and an ever-optimistic sense of humor in both Spanish and English. Dr. Grados was one of nine children and was the son of Amador and Luz Grados. Carlos is survived by his wife Gladys, the love of his life. Carlos is survived by his son Carlos, daughter-in-law Michelle, and grandson Miguel, and his son Manuel, daughter-in-law Sue and grandson Nick and granddaughter Grace, and his daughter Chany, son-in-law Steve, with grandsons and granddaughters, their wives and husbands Dr. Vinnie and Catherine, Fr. Louis, Bernard and Crystal, Lucy and Steven, Fr. Francis, Joseph, Charles, Anne, Jerome, Rosie, and their nine great grandchildren. Visitation is at the Church of the Epiphany Friday the 17th of July at 9:30am, Mass at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to the Riser Relief Haiti or the St Paul Seminary.
