Betty J. Rogich

Rogich, Bettye J. (nee Heller, Anderson) Age 92 of Columbia Heights passed away on Wednesday, May 27th at home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Bettye was born on March 15, 1928 and she loved to tell everyone the story of "Beware the Ides of March." She was born in St. Andrews Hospital where she and her sister took nurses training and received their R.N.'s. Bettye was a 1946 graduate of Columbia Heights High School and a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights. Blessed to retire at 52 from HCMC, she enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit dear relatives in Sweden and Germany, painting beautiful ceramics, fishing, spending time at the cabin and cheering on the Vikings. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; a stillborn son, Michael James; her parents, Jacob Heller II & Margaret Bolling Heller Rustom; stepdad, Waldemar Rustom; sister, Lorraine Duncan; brothers, Jake Heller III and Ronald Rustom. Bettye will be greatly missed by daughter, Cheryl (Mark) Blinkman; brother, Dale (Jacquetta) Rustom; sister-in-law, Lois Heller; grandson, Derek (Kelly) Blinkman; granddaughter, Andrea (Paul) Legrand and much adored great-grandchildren twins Annika and Deklan Blinkman and eight "bonus" great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brenna, Marah and Brayden Dolney; and Mitchell, Derek, Gavin and Hope Legrand, along with many special nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Bettye went through many serious illnesses and surgeries, but her faith in God and savior Jesus Christ brought her through them, giving her more precious time with those she loved so dearly. Many thanks to the staff at Cherrywood Pointe of Roseville, especially Charmaine, Chris and Wanda, and Fairview Hospice, especially Niels Billund, for their grace, compassion and friendship to Bettye and family. We hope to celebrate Bettye's life together at a memorial service in the future. Today, we give thanks to God for her life and the love she gave and received. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be distributed according to Bettye's wishes. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Tuesday, June 2nd.
