Audrey Mae Anderson

Audrey Mae (Moberg) Anderson went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025 at 95 years of age at Presbyterian Homes in Bloomington. Audrey provided a lasting example to her family and friends, of how to live a life with compassion and kindness. She maintained her positive attitude and sense of humor to the end. Audrey was born, the last of three children, to Martin and Mabel Moberg, on May 25, 1930 in Cokato, MN. She graduated from Cokato High School in 1948. She went on to college, attending North Park Junior College in Chicago, IL for two years then transferring to the University of MN, where she earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education in 1952. Following graduation, she taught kindergarten for three years in Willmar, MN, taking a short break in January 1953 when her mother died unexpectedly. On June 17, 1955, Audrey married Robert Lawrence Anderson. Their first home was in Clarkfield, MN, where Audrey taught 1st grade. The following year, they moved to Triumph, MN and opened a grocery store. Over the next 7 years, job changes resulted in several moves before they finally settled in Bloomington, MN. During those years, they welcomed three children into their lives, Brad, Carol and Mark. After her children were born, Audrey enjoyed her new role as full time mother. She read to them, sang with them, prayed with them, and taught them Bible stories. She also stayed busy with gardening, cooking, baking, and sewing clothes for her family. They enjoyed 34 years in Bloomington, entertaining and feeding many friends, family members and neighbors during that time. Wherever they traveled, Bob and Audrey enjoyed collecting rocks and mineral specimens. In 1976, they decided to turn that passion into an occupation, and began making and selling jewelry at craft shows over the next 5 years. To further hone her jewelry making skills, Audrey took silversmithing and goldsmithing classes. And, in 1981, they opened their first "brick and mortar" store on 66th and Penn, in Richfield, and "Veberod Gem Gallery" was born. Their son, Brad, took over the business in the late 1980's and Bob retired, while Audrey continued to work at the store for a few more years. In 1996, Bob and Audrey moved to the York Condos in Edina and continued to enjoy hosting meals for family and friends. Bob passed away on May 4, 2015, at the age of 86. Audrey continued to live at their condo until the end of 2019, when she moved to an independent senior living apartment at Presbyterian Homes in Bloomington. While there, she continued to enjoy time with friends and family, and enjoyed playing games (Scrabble, Rummikub and others). She especially loved swimming and was a "regular" at the Presbyterian Homes pool. She continued to live independently until the last few months of her life when health and mobility issues led to a move to assisted living. Though her health declined, her mind remained sharp until the end, allowing her to continue to enjoy visits with family and friends. God was always an important part of Audrey's life from childhood through her adult years, and to her final days. At a young age, she made a decision to follow God, and recommitted her life to Christ during college. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School and attending Bible studies. She was not afraid to talk about God to her family and friends and was quick to remind each family member that she was praying for them daily. There was never any doubt that she loved the Lord, and her family and friends. She will be missed here on earth, but we know she is rejoicing in heaven with Jesus, along with family and friends who preceded her. Audrey is survived by her three children: Brad (spouse Shelly) in Plymouth, MN, Carol (spouse Paul) in Northfield, MN, and Mark (spouse Kris) in Eden Prairie, MN: seven grandchildren - Jessica in Seattle, WA, Daniel (spouse Kelsey) in Seattle, WA, Kaylen (significant other, Johan) in Sweden, Joel (spouse Monique) in Tucson, AZ, Jenna in Bellingham, WA, Sarah (spouse Murf) in Hong Kong, and Ben (spouse Anna) in Holland, MI. She is preceded in death by parents, Martin and Mabel Moberg, siblings, C. Waldo Moberg and Marion Moberg, and her husband, Bob Anderson. Burial will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery on Friday at 11:00am, October 24, with immediate family. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel at Presbyterian Homes in Bloomington (9889 Penn Ave S.) on Saturday, November 1, at 1:00pm.
