Armin Alfon Bruegger

Armin Alfon Bruegger, 83, of Clear Lake, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. A funeral service will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4030 Jackson Street NE, Columbia Heights, Minnesota on Tuesday, September 1st at 11am. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon followed by an interment at Sunset Cemetery, 2250 Saint Anthony Blvd. St. Anthony, MN. Memorials are preferred to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 9th Avenue South, Clear Lake, Iowa on Thursday, September 10th at 10am. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon. Memorials are preferred to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Armin Alfon Bruegger was born June 27, 1943 in Mankato, MN to Armin Frederick Bruegger and Gladys Marion (Tolzmann) Bruegger. He grew up in Minnesota Lake, then attended school in Faribault, MN for the blind until his junior and senior years, graduating from Minnesota Lake High School. He was a kind-hearted soul. If anyone needed help, he would find a way to help them. On June 19, 1997, Armin married Maxine Koetter, the love of his life in Columbia Heights, MN. They loved to travel together, taking multiple bus trips. Armin worked for Hennepin County, MN as a computer programmer and he also worked for State Services For The Blind where he taught computer programs to the legally blind. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus and the local Lions Clubs in both Columbia Heights, MN as well as in Clear Lake, IA. Armin was honored as Humanitarian of the Year in 2013 and rode as Grand Marshall in the parade that year. Armin loved music, especially from the 50's and 60's. Armin is survived by his wife, Maxine; his two children Lynn Breymer (Ilya Taytslin) of Gloucester, MA; his son, Trent Bruegger of Blue Earth, MN; one brother Bob (Sandy) Bruegger; four sisters, LeAnna Nelson, LaDonna (Diek) Elliott, Luch Groen, Marcia Hull and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Armin and Gladys Bruegger; brothers-in-law Russ Groen and Jim Nelson.
