Smith-Poppino, Anne Louise December 10, 1953-January 14, 2023 Anne lived life to its fullest and her most memorable years were spent in Germany with her husband Steve. They lived in Zweibrucken Germany where Steve was a soldier in the US Army and Anne worked for the US Department of Justice. Anne loved her computer work and took pride in her work ethic and accomplishments, never missing work and going above and beyond the call of duty to get a project completed. Not a surprise with Anne as one of her favorite Bible verses was Philippians 2:14-15. "Do everything without grumbling and arguing so that you can be blameless and pure, shining like a star in the world" Anne was a shining star for so many! Anne never complained and was always willing to do more than her share. Anne was born in Seattle, WA and grew up in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Her first job was through the NYC (Neighborhood Youth Corp) at age 14. She worked 20 hours a week at the Veterans Hospital at Fort Snelling and loved it! She worked in the Addressograph Room where all the patient IDs were made along with their wrist bands. The machines were huge and Anne loved the challenge. She became the number one operator as her speed and accuracy was off the charts. When she was ready to leave, they begged her to stay and offered her a full-time job. Anne was pleased but had to move on. Anne had the best sense of humor! You could count on Anne to crack a joke, under her breath, that would blow you away! She smiled the biggest smile when she shared she was seven minutes older than her twin sister Barbara. She loved Barbara dearly and would do anything for her, absolutely anything, but stop reminding her of the best seven minutes of her life! Anne and her husband Steve traveled all over Europe and her favorite place to go was Spain. She loved the beaches in Spain and spent time there often. Cats were also a love of Annes. She loved her Siamese cat and spoiled it endlessly. Predeceased by her brother, John Wayne Smith, who passed away April 20, 2020. Surviving is her Mother, Zola Jane Smith of Crystal, MN, her twin sister - 7 minutes younger than her, Barbara Jane Jones and her youngest sister, Colleen Kay who lives in Texas with her husband Wayne Hobbs. She was also survived by three nephews, Robert Jones Jr., Daniel Jones and Christopher Dunn. Surviving niece, Jacquelyn Jones. To honor Anne's memory, make your vacation your vocation, be kind instead of right, and give your money, love, and energy to those who can do nothing for you. Per Anne's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Private memorial celebrations at "Perkins" are encouraged. Please give all donations in Anne's memory to your local feline rescue shelter.
