Alvin Leonard Rowe

Alvin Leonard Rowe was born on June 13, 1942, and passed away on June 9, 2026, at the age of 83. Alvin lived a life defined by leadership, service, perseverance, and a commitment to learning. He dedicated much of his professional career to 3M, where he advanced from Junior Laboratory Technician to Senior Accounting Coordinator. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of colleagues through his professionalism, determination, and leadership. Among his many accomplishments, Alvin served as president of the African American Arts Society at 3M, helping to foster community, cultural awareness, and inclusion within the organization. A leader from an early age, Alvin helped integrate De La Salle High School in Pasadena as a seventh-grade student, demonstrating the courage and character that would define his life. He carried that spirit of leadership and service into adulthood, remaining deeply involved in his community. Alvin volunteered with Junior Achievement, supported Little League baseball programs, and generously assisted countless individuals with preparing their tax returns. He believed in giving back and found fulfillment in helping others succeed. Alvin was also a lifelong learner who valued education and personal growth. In 1977, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Minnesota. He continued his studies throughout his life, completing coursework in accounting, marketing, and statistics at Metropolitan State University. Family was at the center of Alvin's life. He married Rosemarie, and together they raised six children and built a loving family until her passing. Later, Alvin found love again when he met and married Sadie. Together they expanded their family, welcoming two more sons and sharing many years of companionship, love, and devotion. Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Alvin J. Rowe; his mother, Zelda Rowe; his sisters, Mary Simms and Gloria Daigle; his brother, Orlando Rowe; and his first wife, Rosemarie. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Sadie Sampson-Rowe; his sister, Menia Goodwell; his brother Danny Rowe; and his children, Leah Collier, Garland Rowe, Aleichia Rowe, Melissa Rowe, Jonathan Rowe, Langston Rowe, Brandon Rowe, and Stephen Rowe. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by his wisdom, encouragement, and love. Alvin will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, volunteer, and friend. He believed in education, community service, and creating opportunities for others. His life serves as a lasting example of perseverance, leadership, and generosity. The legacy he leaves behind lives on through the family he nurtured, the community he served, and the many people whose lives were made better by knowing him.
