William "Bill" Daniel Whisney

April 4, 1952 - May 7, 2022

Whisney, Bill 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a brief battle with cancer. Bill was a member of the first graduating class at what is now Torino Grace High School and retired as a Lieutenant on the Minneapolis Police Department following the proud tradition of his father and grandfather. He protected and served the citizens of Minneapolis for over 44 years - and his family and friends for even longer. In and out of uniform he was always on duty for those he cared about. He was loved, trusted, and respected and will be missed by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Irvin M. Whisney, Mary Ann (Forby) Whisney, sister Suzy Whisney, and infant nephew Daniel. He is survived by sons Joseph and Andrew, siblings Mary Ann, John (Lynda) and Jane (Bill) Wilson; and his nephews and niece. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, May 13, at 12:00 noon, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., all at the Church of St. Boniface, 629 2nd St. NE, Mpls. Interment Hillside Cemetery.
