Virgil Curtis Hed
January 17, 1934 - January 26, 2022
Child of God, Beloved Husband and Father, Virgil C. Hed, 88, went home to his Heavenly Father on 1-26-22. Virgil was born on 1-17-34 in Mankato, Minnesota, one of five boys. He and his brothers all worked at his father's restaurant, Purity Castle (better known as "Hed's Hamburgers"). He grew up in Willmar, MN, and graduated from Willmar High in 1951. He then attended the U of MN graduating with a BME in 1956. He spent five years in ROTC at the U and later was in the USAF. He worked as an engineer for several companies before starting his own company. He got his Professional Engineer's license. Later he sold his company, and did free-lance work designing computer-controlled machines. Virgil was preceded in death by brothers Robert (and sister-in-law Joan), Ronald, and John. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, son Jeffrey (Jacqueline), brother Douglas (Avaunne), sister-in-law Karen, and numerous other relatives and friends. There will be a short Christian graveside service at Fort Snelling on February 9 at 2:00 PM, which all may attend. Meet at Gate 2, Lane 3 at 1:45.
