Troy Nelson Hood
June 17, 1968 - May 26, 2022
Hood, Troy N. Age 53, of Eden Prairie; formerly of Dakota City, Nebraska. Troy passed away on May 26, 2022 after a brief and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Survived by his wife, Dawn Hood; son, Koby Hood; stepson, Matthew Spanhake; parents, John "Bob" and Jewell Hood; sister, Joy (Ron) Flaugh; parents-in-law, Milt and Carol Eloe; brother-in-law, Travis Eloe; niece, Autumn (Donny) Sommese; nephews Easton (Payton) Flaugh, Adam Eloe, Alex Eloe; and many other family and friends. Troy's adventurous nature led him beyond Nebraska to Colorado, Arizona, and Minnesota during his adult life. Troy blessed everyone he met along the way with his kindness and generosity. After graduating from Homer High School, Troy attended Wayne State College before transferring to Western State University in Colorado. Formal education wasn't the right fit for Troy and he took advantage of his creativity, ingenuity, and work ethic to succeed in a variety of positions, including those for Gateway, Inc., Gerkin Windows & Doors, Big Soo Terminal, and Champion Sunrooms. He had just launched his own handyman company when he was diagnosed with cancer. Troy loved many things, including skiing, fishing, and boating on the Missouri River; creating things in his shop/garage; hanging out at home in Minnesota with the love of his life; and most importantly, being with his cherished family. Two services will be held to celebrate Troy's life: Wednesday, June 8 at 3:00 pm; Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Road, Edina, MN Tuesday, June 14 at 10:30 am; Dakota City United Methodist Church, 1523 Locust Street, Dakota City, NE The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the University of Minnesota Esophageal Cancer Research Fund (https://makingagift.umn.edu/give/fund.html?id=23591) or to their favorite charity in Troy's name.
