TIMOTHY ROBERT TOMPKINS Tompkins, Timothy Robert, age 58. Beloved son of Mary Ann and the late Patrick Tompkins. Loving brother of Bridget, Patrick, Jr. (Terri), Molly Swirtz (Greg), Margaret, Thomas (Kate), Katie, (Glenn Andersen), Mary (Eric Lealos) and Daniel (Jessy). Dear uncle of Madeline Lund (Michael) and Isabel Tompkins; Kilian and Meredith Swirtz; Cecilia, Patrick and Mary Tompkins; and Murphy, Julia, Josephine and Fiona Lealos; and Mairin, Maeve and Torin Tompkins. A proud graduate of Lindbergh High School and St. John's University, Tim was a natural and accomplished salesman and entrepreneur, working at Packaging Incorporated before co-founding River City Packaging. He then worked as a sales consultant for Litin Paper and owned his company Ground Floor Packaging. He loved life on the road, making calls and exploring towns and businesses far and wide. Tim's lifelong love of the outdoors and sports started young. As a child, he asked for a pheasant costume so he could infiltrate the bouquet of birds in the field near his home. He became an expert hunter and fisherman, starting at the family cabin and later crewing a commercial purse seine boat for two summers in Alaska. The left-hander excelled as a winger in hockey, a curve ball-throwing pitcher on the mound and tournament champ on the racquetball court. Golf gripped him in later years, with frequent trips to courses throughout Minnesota, Florida, Nevada and Arizona. He was blessed with many loyal friends who cared deeply for him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 16th at 11 AM at St. Hubert Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 10 AM, 8201 Main St, Chanhassen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge or the Audubon Society.
