Thelma Grace Rue

July 13, 1929 - January 18, 2022

Rue (Hamel), Thelma Grace age 92 of Minneapolis, Minnesota went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 18th, 2022. Thelma was born July 13th, 1929 to Raymond and Beatrice Hamel and was a graduate of Minneapolis South High School. She met the love of her life Lawrence Rue in June of 1950 and they married that year on December 9th, they were married for 44 years until Larry's passing in 1994. Throughout their marriage they lived in White Bear Lake, Maplewood, and Arden Hills and also owned a cabin on Lake Edward near Brainerd MN. Thelma was very involved with her large extended family with many nieces and nephews and kept a very busy social calendar with her friends and family. She could always be counted on to help others in need and spent several years taking care of family. Thelma was also a board member of Lake Vadnais Church and often would be found playing the piano as needed, making conversation with anyone new to the church or bringing her staple Jell-O salad to the potluck lunches. Thelma was loved very much by her family and friends and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, her sisters Eunice (Harold) Nelson and Gladys Trites and her brothers Melvin and Gerald Hamel. She is survived by her brother Loren and his wife Sue Hamel. Her daughter Lori Link, her son Chuck and his wife Tracy Rue. She was known as Nana to her grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Rachel Link, Ana and her husband Joe Maffei, Buffy Link, Cydonia and Charlie Rue and Steph Matson. Great grandchildren, Thomas Link, Leighton Denkmann, Logan and Keira Link. Services will be held on Saturday, February 26th, 2022. Visitation will start at 1pm with a service following at 2pm.
