January 19, 1968 - February 10, 2022
Stephen Taylor Clift, a carpenter from Golden Valley, Minnesota, died on February 10, 2022. He passed away at the age of 54 after a five-year-long battle with stage four colon cancer. He is survived by his three children: Sabrina (24), Jessica (22), and Alex (21); his father Peter; and his younger brothers Bob and Scott. Steve was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 19, 1968, to Peter Clift and Lois Taylor. He spent the majority of his childhood living in Japan, and he graduated from Christian Academy in Japan in 1986. He continued his education at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota until 1989. He met Josee Turcotte on a mission trip to Bolivia in the summer of 1992. Steve and Josee both attended New Brunswick Bible Institute in the fall of '92 until the spring of '94. They were married that June. They had their three children over the next several years: Sabrina on July 22, 1997; Jessica on March 22, 1999; and Alex on December 4, 2000. Steve was a skilled craftsman and an amazing father. He enjoyed working on home improvement projects and always found creative ways to solve every problem he came across, whether it was around the house or in making fun activities and vacations possible for his children. He loved the outdoors and made an effort to take his family on a trip out west as often as he could. He loved to hike, climb, camp, ski, and bike on these trips. Steve was very involved in each of his children's lives. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his kids participate in all of their sports, and sometimes he even joined them. Steve was deeply devoted to his extended family as well and valued his frequent interactions with them. He was involved in the church as a deacon and as Awana leader; he also taught the teenage boys' Sunday School. He was a man of strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and he is now enjoying the presence of God in Heaven. A memorial service will be held for Steve on March 14 at Rice Lake Bible Chapel in Maple Grove, MN. A socialization period will start at 5:30PM CST for any who wish to see Steve's family before his service begins at 7PM. There will be music and a message provided by Jay Swisher. Those wishing to join virtually can do so here: https://bit.ly/SteveCliftMemorial. This online connection will begin at 6:30PM. Flowers and donations may be brought to the service at Rice Lake Bible Chapel (donation checks should be made out to Alex Clift).
