Shirley Ann Gould

Shirley Ann Gould, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Legacy of Saint Michael after battling dementia for several years. Shirley was born on November 30, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Edward and Esther Johnson. She was the oldest of three children. She dedicated her life to Christ and made it her passion to tell others about Him. She had Bible classes in her home for children and made sure rides were arranged for people who couldn't get to church otherwise. Shirley attended the Mound Assembly of God Church and was the leader of the women's group for many years. She later moved to Coon Rapids and attended the Coon Rapids Free Church and the Salvation Army Church of Coon Rapids. She loved going to the senior center in Coon Rapids where she made so many new friends. Shirley was an artist and was always painting, drawing, and up to the end of her life, coloring, and decorating the walls of The Legacy of St. Michael. She painted murals on the Sunday school walls at both Coon Rapids churches dedicating many hours. Shirley leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Deanie (Rick) White, Linda (Marv) Buck, Wayne Gould, Wendy (Terry) Bohn, and Steve (Shelly) Gould; her brother, Dale (Jean); 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother and one grandson. Her smile was contagious and she enjoyed laughter and conversation. She was always quick with a joke and had a smile that lit up the room! The last words from a book that she wrote for her children several years ago were these: "I've had an interesting life, where there have been changes, disasters, moves, happiness, unhappiness, depression, and hope. By bonding together as a family and trusting in Almighty God, we made it. I've had 5 wonderful kids. Who can ask for anything more?" Shirley will be deeply missed. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 31 2022 at 3 PM with visitation starting at 2 PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. Inurnment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.
