Ruth Marie Holdridge
February 6, 1930 - March 7, 2022
Ruth Marie Holdridge, Age 92, passed away on March 7, 2022, from complications related to ALS. She will best be remembered for her love of music and the arts. Her earliest memories were from her time growing up in Tyler, MN. She loved the small town life. She graduated from Tyler High School and left to attend St. Olaf and Macalester colleges. It was there that she met Bill Kuban, marrying in 1950 and raising four daughters. She shared her love of music and art with family and friends by volunteering, playing the piano and painting. Every day life for Ruth was spent caring for her family, enjoying tennis, racquetball, golf, bowling, and spending time at the family cabin. While raising their family, Ruth enjoyed many outdoor activities together and trips to Colorado skiing. She cherished her animal companions and the love of nature continued for the remainder of her life. She continued to play the piano and compose music throughout her entire life. For five decades, she loved to play bridge with her beloved neighborhood bridge friends. Although divorced, Ruth and Bill found friendship and forgiveness in the last years of Bill's life, who passed 10 years before, to the day. More than anything, Ruth loved her family. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Inez and Earl: sisters Charlotte and Jean. She is survived by her loving brother Sook (Lou) Holdridge; daughters Karla Kuban, Nancy Jean (Roger), Gretchen Rode (Greg), Lisa Rikkers (Jim); Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thank you and gratitude to her caregivers. They gave Ruth and her family comfort and compassion during her final days. In remembrance of Ruth's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to ALS.org (MN chapter) or St. Olaf music fund. A memorial gathering in the Spring will be held at a later date.
