Roxanne Marie Pedersen
April 8, 2022
Long-time resident of Bloomington, Minnesota, Roxanne Marie Pedersen ("Roxy") passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on April 8, 2022 after living with Alzheimer's Disease for 20 years. She is preceded in death by her parents Marge and Louie Wencl of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Roxanne was the first-born of four girls to Marge and Louie Wencl. She is survived by loving husband Larry Pedersen, daughters Deb Lundgren and Doreen Malecha, her siblings Rosalee Storvick, Charlotte Gillette, Terri Norland, and their families. Roxanne graduated from Blooming Prairie High School, class of 1957. She worked as an editor for the high school newspaper, and played piano/organ at churches in the area, and at home for family. She moved to Minneapolis to attend secretarial school. Roxanne married Larry Pedersen, also from Blooming Prairie, after being set up on a blind date. It worked out. They were married for 63 years. Roxanne worked with her husband Larry at The Rental Place of Burnsville, Minnesota for 29 years, and was active in the Minnesota Rental Association. She attended rental store conventions nationwide, and served as Secretary of the Minnesota Rental Association for 4 years. Roxanne was the type of person who picked out her dessert first. She loved to surprise people with her quick wit. She was renowned for her great sense of humor and glowing smile. She loved music, and it would always set her feet tapping. She played the piano, organ, ukulele, and when challenged, the washboard, spoons, or even the kazoo. She would spend time with her grandchildren teaching them songs on the organ. And she loved to dance old-time dances: the Polka, Waltz, Schottische, Jitterbug, and Charleston. Roxanne was also an excellent seamstress. She would sew dresses and dance costumes for daughters "Debbie" and "Dori" (childhood nicknames), and would help the other Dance Moms create their costumes. Roxanne loved tending her flower garden. Their radiance matched well with her smile. Roxanne loved a good bargain and was known as a "shopper extraordinaire." When Larry would ask how much something cost, she would reply with a wry smile, "You don't want to know." She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a vivacious "people person." Her spirit and enthusiasm were infectious.
