Roger Avery age 81 of Fridley, Minnesota, passed away on January 30th, 2022. Roger was born in Staples, Minnesota on December 5th, 1940, to Ernest and Nancy Avery. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Ken Avery. Survived by loving wife, LaVonne; sons, John (Inez) and Jeffrey (Sharon); five amazing grandchildren, Caleb (Marissa), Jennifer, Thomas (Toni), Caden, and Ethan; and great-granddaughter, Leanne; sister-in-Law, Margaret Avery; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Karleen Tjepkema; nieces, nephews; special friends, Allen and Janice Glass, Jim Hinrichs, and Lyle Saker; as well as the Glencoe Street Gang for the many years of love and support. Roger was an employee of Onan (Cummins) for 43 years as well as a 30-year retiree of the Army National Guard. After retirement, he looked forward to spending time at the cabin enjoying the peace and quiet of nature surrounding him. Spending time with the amazing five plus one was a special time for him as well and earned him his cherished name of 'Papa'. Roger enjoyed helping others whenever possible; delivering groceries to seniors, visiting elderly, and checking on friends along with giving time to Feed My Starving Children and volunteering at American Legion Post 303. Memorials preferred to Feed My Starving Children or Juvenile Diabetes Research. Due to Covid, memorial service at a later date.
