Robert E (Bob) Hand of Minneapolis died November 24, 2021 in Minneapolis, MN. Born December 1, 1942 in Rochester, Minnesota he was preceded in death by parents, Emmett (EJ) and Alyce Ryan Hand of Rochester, MN; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Mae Hand; granddaughter, Kaeli Mae Hand and brother-in law, Donald J. O'Brien. Survived by sons, Michael Hand ( Lorann Halverson) of Eden Prairie,MN and Ryan Hand of Valrico, FL; grandchildren, Max, Luke, Zack, Elizabeth and Teddy Hand and sisters, Sharon O'Brien of Eugene, OR and Colleen (David) Welty of Maui, HI. In addition Bob is survived by his sons' mother, Patricia Ophoven Hand of Minneapolis; nephew, Dan (Kim) O'Brien of Eugene, OR, their children Mary & Will and niece Shannon (Jason) O'Brien August of Toronto, Canada, their children Casey Joe & Olivia plus many cousins and loving friends. A member of the 1960 Class of Lourdes High School in Rochester, MN, he received his BA degree from University of Minnesota-Mankato and his MA degree from the University of North Dakota, in Grand Forks. Bob, a retired employee of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development was very active in the Counseling profession during his career. He served as Treasurer and President of the Minnesota Employment Counseling Association and the Minnesota Counseling Association as well as President of the National Employment Counseling Association. He also was a Trustee of these organizations and served on the Governing Council of the American Counseling Association. In addition Bob served a 10-year term on a local Selective Service Board, and had been active on the School Board and Parish Council of Christ the King parish in Minneapolis as well as the CTK Boy Scout Troup 89. Bob was also a Board member of his Condo association and Tree Trust, a non-profit organization Transforming Lives and Landscapes. Memorial Mass will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary, Corner of Hennepin Ave. and N. 17th Street in Minneapolis at 11AM on December 22, 2021. Visitation at Washburn McReavy Davies Chapel, 2301 Dupont Ave So. Minneapolis from 4PM to 8PM on December 20th as well as 1 hour prior to the service at church on 12/22. A private burial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN. If so desired memorials may be sent to the Basilica Landmark, P.O.
