Rita Anne Kieser Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rita Anne Kieser (85) of Prior Lake passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2022. Rita was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on September 28th, 1936 to Othmar and Mildred Lardy. She graduated from St. Paul Johnson High School in 1953. In 1959, Rita married William (Bill) Kieser, and together they had five loving children. She was a strong and selfless woman, lived a faith-based life, and was a long-time parishioner at Pax Christi Catholic Church. Her unwavering faith guided her through the difficult periods of her life. Her strength was evident throughout her lifetime; she radiated strength to her family and friends upon the sudden deaths of her husband and son and throughout her Parkinson's journey. Rita lost her husband at a young age and was left to rear five children ages 7-13. Through grace and example, she raised her kids to be strong, independent, loving, and kind. Rita was a selfless woman who found joy in serving not only her family, but others in need. Rita lived for her children and grandchildren, always putting them before herself. She loved being surrounded by her kids, whether it was for holidays or just visits. She always made it a priority to be a part of her grandchildren's events, including birthdays, first communions, sporting events, dance recitals, graduations, and hosting pool parties. Rita lived passionately and enjoyed the simple things. She loved long visits with her sister Renee and brother Eddie, as well as phone calls with her sister Gail. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters-in-law, Anne and Marilyn, going to lunch, church, game nights, shopping and travels. She appreciated her job and friends at J.C. Penny where she worked for over 20 years. Rita had many hobbies. She was an avid bowler, achieving a high score of 254 and several 600 series in her bowling league. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, whether it was enjoying the Florida sunshine with family, camping with family and friends, or renting a cabin in Alexandria. She loved music and dancing; from attending dances in her younger years to dancing in the living room when her favorite songs came on in her later years. Another favorite pastime of Rita's was watching sports on TV. She enjoyed watching many sports, but the Twins were always her favorite team to root for. Rita loved animals and spoiled her long haired dachshund Sadie with treats, pets, and love. Rita is survived by her children Lynne (Robert) Harris, Christopher Kieser, Karen Kieser, and Kelly Kieser (David McMahon), grandchildren Josh and Lauren Harris, Joseph and Jessica Kieser, and Madelyn McMahon, and siblings Edwin Lardy and Renee (Charles) Kenow. She was preceded in death by husband William, son Steven, and sister Gail. Memorial services will be held at Pax Christi Catholic Church on Friday August 19th with visitation at 9:30 am and mass at 10:30 am. A luncheon will follow. Memorial donations may be made in Rita's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.
