    Nancy Carol Jahnke

    January 4, 1945 - March 14, 2022

Nancy (Burma) Jahnke (nee Miller) passed away on March 14, 2022 at the age of 77. Nancy was born to Walter Dale and Mary Miller in rural South Dakota on January 4, 1945. She grew up on a cattle ranch and occasionally rode her horse to the one-room schoolhouse she attended. Her South Dakota roots stayed with her for a lifetime. After graduating from Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller, South Dakota, Nancy moved to the Twin Cities and eventually settled in Bloomington, Minnesota where she married Orvin Burma. Together they raised two sons. In 1983, she founded the first of several businesses that she owned and developed during her long successful career in health care billing. In 1993, Nancy married Pete Jahnke and the two of them became inseparable. They traveled often and rarely spent a day apart during their marriage. Nancy loved Elvis, NASCAR racing and playing the piano but her passions were kids and Cancun, Mexico. Every one of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews felt like they were her favorite. In Cancun, where she spent most of her winters, she volunteered at a local orphanage called City of Joy becoming known as the "Pizza Lady" who brought weekly pies for the children. Nancy was full of life and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by parents Walter Dale and Mary Miller and sister Karey Albers. She is survived by husband Pete; siblings Randy (Mary) Miller and Renee (Aaron) Johansen; sons Lance (Julie) Burma and Craig Burma; grandchildren Stephanie (Mike) Nigai, Mandy (Chris) Bird, Nick (Morgan) Alverson, Jason Burma, Scott (Natasha) Burma, and Brian Burma; great-grandchildren Sutton Nigai and Sloane Nigai; and, many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Washburn-McReavy Werness Brothers Bloomington Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church, 9920 Normandale Road, Bloomington, Minnesota. Memorials can be made to: Africa Uplifted, 34 Catania, Mission Viejo, CA 92692 (www.africauplifted.org).
